Resumen: This paper presents an intergenerational comparison of cognitive skills of the Spanish adult population in the field of mathematics in 2012, derived from the data of the Program for International Assessment of Adult Competence (PIAAC). The main novelty of our analysis, besides the database, is the use of the complete distributions of the population of the different cohorts in the five levels of competence defined by the Program. To do so we apply the methodology of Herrero & Villar (2012), which allows the comparison of categorical variables between different population groups.
