Labour economics studies the functioning and dynamics of the markets for labour. The supply side of the market is represented by workers, who decide whether to participate or not in the labor market, how many hours they want to work, and their investments in human capital. The demand side concerns employers and firms’ hiring decisions. Labor Economics encompasses economics of education, health economics, family economics. It can be considered an application of microeconomics or macroeconomics.
